Yuksam was the first capital of Sikkim. This was the place, where according to the historical records, the first Chogyal of the Kingdom of Sikkim was enthroned in 1641 AD by the three learned lamas. It is from Yuksam that the trek to Dzongri and to the base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga begins.

The first Monastery established soon after the consecration, it is situated on a hill top above Yuksam and is surrounded by verdant forest.
Tashiding Monastery :
Tashiding Monastery is constructed on the top of a heart-shaped hill with the backdrop of the sacred Mount Kanchenjunga. It is known for two basic reasons - the Holy Chorten called 'Thong-Wa-Rang-To' and sacred water festival.
Tendong Hill :
Tendong Hill is a small flat expanse of pacific land lying at an altitude of 8,530 ft. surrounded by lush green ancient forests. Historically, this has been a place of recluse for Buddhist Lamas who spend years in meditation amidst the peaceful scenic ambience.
Ravangla :
At the foot of Menam Hill is Ravangla, a small township and important halting point to various tourist destinations in South and West Sikkim. It is also a transit point for trekkers to Menam Hills and Borong. A trek to 'Shar Chok Bephu' cave would be an highly exciting and unique experience.
Menam Hill :
Menam Hill towers above the Tendong Hill on the other side overlooking the Ravangla bazaar settlement. Located at an altitude of 10,300 ft. the scenic views from this height is, perhaps, unmatched and exclusive in this part of the world.
