From Pelling one can easily and conveniently visit the Khechopari Lake, Rimbi Waterfalls, Kanchenjunga Waterfalls, Changay Waterfalls, Sigshore Bridge, Dentam Bazaar and, Yuksam which was the first capital of Sikkim. Pemyangtse Monastery : It is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim, located on a hilltop at a height of 6840 ft. Besides this, there are many other monasteries in Pelling like: Sangachoeling Monastery, Dabdi Monastery, Tashiding Monastery and so on. About 6 km from Gyalsing town, this Pemayangtse Monastery was originally built as a small temple in the last of 17th century by Latsun Chempo. But, later on, the temple structure was rebuilt into a monastery. Pemayantse monastery is special because it is meant only for ‘ta-sang’ lamas (pure monks). Believed to have been conceptualized and designed by the pioneers of Buddhism in Sikkim, Lhatsun Chhembo, Pemayangste soon became the nuclei of monasteries in Sikkim. Today, it is considered as the "premier monastery" of Sikkim. Sangacholing Monastery : This monastery is situated on a ridge above Pelling and the most prominent Pemayangtse Monastery of Assam. To reach the Monastery one has to walk on steep hilly slope through rich evergreen forests.
