Teen Murti, the sprawling prime ministerial residence of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was converted into a museum after his death. The museum consequently revolves around the life and works of Nehru, especially those objects pertaining to the freedom struggle.

A collection of photographs and newspapers also help in recreating the stirring events that led to the birth of the Indian Republic.

Teen Murti House was converted into the official residence of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, after independence. For 16 years, till his death in the year 1964, this building served as his official home. After the sad demise of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, it was converted into a museum and a library, dedicated to Panditji.

Delhi Nehru Museum & Planetorium uses visual media to portray the life and works Jawaharlal Nehru, even his Kashmiri lineage.

Also on display are several photographs of the erstwhile Prime Minister, along with the Bharat Ratna medal awarded to him in 1955.

There is a Gifts Gallery in the museum that showcases some of the priceless gifts that Nehru received during his engagements in India as well as abroad. Another one of the major attractions of the Museum and Planetarium of Nehru in New Delhi is the Jawahar Jyoti.

Jawahar Jyoti is an eternal flame that keeps burning day and night in remembrance of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The front lawn of the museum houses a massive granite rock inscribed with short extracts from the destiny speech delivered by Nehru in the midnight session of the Indian Constituent Assembly. The Nehru library boasts of books on religion, culture, sociology, economics, politics and development in India.

Also included in the collection are pamphlets, newspapers, periodicals, research material, rare journals, etc.

There is also an admirable collection of manuscripts, consisting of institutional records and papers and correspondence of individuals, both in the museum as well as the library. On the formal grounds of the Teen Murti House is situated the Nehru Planetarium. Here, you will get to know about the Space Program of India, the Universe and even the Capsule that took Rakesh Sharma to space. Also, astronomy shows are daily organized at this planetarium, with special programs for school children.
