Hazaribagh, literally meaning ‘a thousand gardens’, is a famous health and holiday resort situated at a height of 2019 ft. above the sea level. It has excellently congenial climate and immense scenic beauty all around it in the midst of dense and verdant forests, abundantly rich in flora and fauna. The Hazaribagh plateau has on its eastern margin, Parasnath - the highest hill in Jharkhand and Bihar, rising to a height of 4480 feet. 23 out of the 24 Tirthankars (including Parsvantha) are believed to have attained salvation in the Sammetasikhara of this Parasnath hills. The Prasvantha, 23rd Tirthankar was very popular among tribal people of Chotanagpur. Both the Swetamber and Digamber Jains have many beautiful temples here on the hills.

Wildlife Sanctuary:--
For the eco-tourists, nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts, Hazaribagh is immensely taking—showcasing enchanting hills, deep nullahs, thick tropical woodlands, grassy meadows, etc. 'Sal' is the dominant tree species. Wild bear, sambhar, nilgai, chital and kakar, Sloth bears, tigers and panthers, etc. are abundant. The ten observation towers in the sanctuary amply facilitate easier and closer encounters with the wildlife, and guest houses within the premises of the sanctuary provide easy and comfortable accommodations.The Hazaribagh National Park is about 20 Km from the Hazaribag town. Regular bus services connect the town with Koderma, Hazaribagh Road railway station, Patna, Gaya, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Dalotongunj and other nearby towns. Unmetred Taxis, Auto Rickshaws, Cycle Rickshaws and Taxis are easily available for the park from the Hazaribagh town.
Canary Hill :
Close to the Hazaribagh town lies the Canary Hill which has a well-laid out park and is studded with three small but enchanting lakes. It has an observation tower also. From the top of the Canary hill one can have a panoramic view of the whole town.
Rajrappa :
About 75 km from Ranchi on Ramgarh Chitarpur Road, Rajrappa is situated at the confluence of the rivers Damodar and Bhairavi (popularly known as Bhera). Rajrappa, which was once desolate hillocks with a small temple of Chhinamastika, has now turned into a renowned pilgrim resort for the Hindu devotees of Bihar and West Bengal. The headless statue of Goddess Chhinamastika stands upon the bodies of Kamdeo and Rati on a lotus bed. The temple is very old and its construction and architectural design resembles that of other temples of tantrik importance. Though its antiquity is yet to be dated, some people are of the opinion that the present temple is a renovated one of the original temple. A number of other temples have come up around the original temple, particularly the temples of Mahavidyas (Tara, Shodashi, Bhubneswari, Bhairavi, Bagla, Kamla, Matangi, Dhumavati) built in a series. Pilgrims come here throughout the year.Rajrappa has also turned into a popular picnic spot. On the day of Makar Sakranti (14th January), a religious fair is held here. Rajrappa can be easily reached from Ranchi and Hazaribagh. It is en route to Bokaro from Ramgarh.
Surya Kund :
Suryakund is a hot spring about 72 km away from Hazaribagh. Buses are regularly and frequently available from the town.
Urwan Tourist Complex :
It offers adventure sports like boating, para sailing, rock climbing, drive to Hari Har Dham at Bagodar, popular and renowned for the 52 feet tall Shiv-Ling shaped temple of Lord Shiva.

Air - The nearest airport is the Ranchi airport about 90 Km away, which is well connected with Calcutta, Patna, Lucknow and Delhi by regular Indian Airlines and other private air services.
Rail - Closest railway station is Koderma which is 60 Km away or alternately one can approach the National Park from Hazaribagh Road railway station (about 65 Km) on the Howarh-Delhi Grand Chord line.
Road - Hazaribagh town is well-connected by road to Ranchi 90 Km, Dhanbad 128 Km, Gaya 130 Km, Patna 235 Km, Daltonganj 198 Km, Calcutta (via Asansol-Govindapur-Barhi) 434 Km.
