Baidyanath Dham is a very popular and renowned Hindu pilgrimage in the Santhal Pargana district of Jharkhand. It is also called DEOGHAR or the house of Gods and Godesses. Situated on the eastern side of Bihar (now in Jharkhand), Deoghar is very close to the West Bengal border. Visitors from all around visit this famous numinous temple where the Kamana Linga of Lord Shiva is placed. In the Hindu month of `shrawan' devotees come in large number, particularly on 'Mondays'. Most of these devotees come walking after traversing a distance of some 100 Km on foot to pour the holy Ganga water on Kamana Linga taken at and brought from Sultanganj. Baidyanath Dham can be reached by train or road.

Shravani Mela :All the devotees of Lord Shiva are heartly welcome at the Maha Shravani Mela, at Deoghar, the holy abode of Lord Shiva. Devotees, after having a holy dip at Uttar Vahini Ganga at Sultanganj, carry the holy Ganga’s water, in the Kanwar, barefooted, for a distance of 105 Km up to Deoghar. Their journey culminates by offering this Holy Water to the Lord of Lords, Shiva.
This entire route becomes engulfed in Lord Shiva's favour and fervour by the chantings of his holy name. The Ravneshwar Shiva Temple of Deoghar is known as a Siddha Peeth. Amongst the twelfth Shiva Lingams in the country, the one at Deoghar is also known as Kamna Lingam. It is believed that if a devotee prays from the bottom of his heart in front of this Lingam, his prayer is easily granted and fulfilled.
Trikut :
About 24 Km west of Deoghar, Trikut is famous for its Hill Temples. It is religiously and respectfully believed that numerous sages have attained salvation on the top of these numinous hills, known as Trikut.
Basukinath :
About 43 Km from Deoghar, there is an attractive and impressive Shiva Temple here. It is religiously believed that a pilgrimage to Deoghar is incomplete without offering holy waters to Lord Shiva at Basukinath.
Navlakha Temple :
2 Km from Deoghar, there are auspicious temples of Radha And Krishna here.
How to Reach :
Rail - The nearest railway station is Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar) which is a terminal station of a 7 Km branch line originating from Jaisidih Junction, on the Howrah-Patna rail line of the Eastern Railway.
Road - By road the from Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar) to Calcutta is 373 Km, Giridih 112 Km, Patna 281 Km, Dumka 67 Km, Madhupur 57 Km, Shimultala 53 Km, etc. Long distance buses connect Baidyanath Dham with Bhagalpur, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Tatanagar, Gaya etc. Regular and frequent bus services from Ranchi and Patna are available. From Bhagalpur Deoghar’s pilgrimage site is about 80 Km.
