Situated on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra, and in Sonitpur district of Assam, Tezpur is a historic town of magnificent scenic beauty and outstanding archaeological ruins. Agnigarh :
Agnigarh or the rampart surrounded by fire, is perhaps the most beautiful and romantic tourist attraction of Tezpur. It is believed that, princess Usha the only daughter of King Bana was kept inside the palace which was surrounded by a rampart of fire.
ColePark
This is one of the most interesting, aesthetic, and pacific places of Tezpur. This is the place, where the two magnificent ornamented stone pillars and the sculptural remains dating back to the 9th and 10th century A.D, of the popular Bamuni hill can be explored at leisure.
The Hazara Pukhuri :
The giant tank preserves the name of Hazara Varman in Tezpur. It was dug in the early part of the 19th century, and is the third largest tank of Assam covering approximately an area of 70 acres.
Bhomoraguri :
A giant and massive stone inscription made by the Ahom General Kalia Bhomora Phukan, who planned to built a bridge over Brahmaputra could be seen here. About two centuries later, a bridge over Brahmaputra at the same place has now been constructed. The 3.05 km. long bridge named after the great Ahom general, and connecting Nagaon district with Tezpur, was opened for vehicular Traffic on 3rd April 1987.
