Haflong Tourism Guide - Haflong is a scenic, congenial, and celestial hill station of Assam, renowned as “the land of blue hills” and the “Scotland of Assam”, and situated at an altitude of 680 m above the sea level. Haflong is immensely prominent for its scenic features consisting of azure blue hills, emerald green rivers, unique orchids such as Blue Vanda and rare species of birds. Inhabitants of Haflong are Himar, Mizo and Naga tribes, who cultivate Pineapple and oranges in abundance. Haflong is also famous for lovely lakeside resorts developed in the lavish green hills around the town.  The best period of time to visit Haflong is between the months of October and April.

Haflong Lake, is one of the two lakes on the only hill station of Assam. This large, beautiful, and limpid lake adds celestial beauty to the hill station regarded as the 'Scotland of Assam'. Boating on the lake and Garampani, a hot-water spring, are enthralling and captivating to the tourists. The Jatinga Village, famous for the unexplained phenomenon of migratory birds 'committing mass suicide', is only 9 km away from Haflong. The lake, Jatinga village, and the surroundings together present a haven for hundreds of migratory birds in the winter.

Maibong :
Haflong Assam Travel, Maibong, the administrative headquarters of North Cachar Hills District in Assam, is a small town located on the banks of Mahur and is about 45 km from Haflong. The town was the once the capital of the Kachari kingdom from the 16th to 18th century. The remnants of the kingdom can still be seen on the eastern bank of Mahur and to the south of Maibong. Besides the ruins, Maibong is also famous for the 12th century monolithic Ramchandi Temple.
