Alisagar
Deer Park is located in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh. The Alisagar
was constructed in 1931 by the Nizam. Flanked by natural hillocks and
lovely flower gardens, the lake and its surroundings are rich in scenic
beauty. Near the reservoir is situated the Alisagar Deer Park, which was
established in 1985. The park hosts many deer species. This is a good
picnic spot for tourists. From Nizamabad there are regular buses to Alisagar.
Coringa Wild Life Sanctuary, Coringa
Situated 20 Kms from Kakinada and 70 Kms from Rajahmundry, this sanctuary is a part of river Godavari and has a rich growth of Mangrove plantation. A unique feature of this sanctuary is that it's located on the back waters of the sea. Otter, a protected specie is found here. Among other animals which include Fishing Cat, Jackal, Sea Turtle and Estuarine Crocodile which are found in the creeks. The common birds found are Snipes, Ducks, ,Sea Gulls and Flamingos.
Eturnagaram Sanctuary, Eturnagaram
Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the oldest sanctuaries of Andhra Pradesh. It is spread at a distance of 806 sq.km in Warangal district. It is located at a distance of 90 km. from Warangal and 250 km. from Hyderabad. The forest includes southern tropical dry deciduous type of teak and its associates like Thiruman, Maddi, Bamboo etc., while the fauna includes several endangered animals like Tiger, Sloth Bear, Four Horned Antelope, Chinkara, Black Buck etc
Gundla
Brahmeswara Sanctuary, Nandyal Gundla Brahmeswaram Sanctuary lies between Kurnool and Prakasam districts, spread over 1194 sq.km at a distance of 30 Km. from Nandyal. This sanctuary has mixed deciduous forests of Teak, Prerocarpuss, Terminalia, Albizzia, Anogeissius, Dalbergia, Boswelia, Shisham, Andug & Bamboo. It is situated on Gundla Brahmeshwaram plateau running south north of the Nallamallai hill range, with cuts and broken hill ranges, valleys and plateau's. A perennial river by name 'Gundlakamma', crosses through the sanctuary. The sanctuary presents a varied habitat for wild life.
Indira Gandhi Zoological park, Visakhapatnam
The park covers an area of 625 acres. It is presently one of the largest zoo located in the natural settings of a reserve forest about 4 km. from the Visakhapatnam railway station on the National Highway at Mathurawada. Nearly eighty species of animals numbering to about eight hundred are present in the zoo. The Zoo Park has different sections for primates, carnivores, lesser carnivores, small mammals, reptiles, ungulates, and birds. Primates This section houses various species of monkeys - the common Langur, Rhesus monkey, Bonnet Monkey and other exotic fauna like Mandrills, Olive Baboons and Sacred Baboons.
Kaundinya
Wildlife Sanctuary, Palamaneru This sanctuary is located 50 Km from Chittoor and 120 Km from Bangalore by road. It covers an area of 358-sq-kms. The area is covered by southern tropical thorn type of forests, consisting of flora Albiziaamara, Ficusreligiosa, Ficustomentosa, Ficus Bengalensis and Bamboo. The flora also consists of a species, which is a regeneration of 'santalum' album. The habitat of Kaundinya sanctuary is rugged with high hills and deep valleys. The Kaigal and Kaundinya are two streams, which flow through the sanctuary.
Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary, Jannaram
Established in 1965, the sanctuary spreads over 893sq.km with dry deciduous teak forest, bamboo and miscellaneous species of flora. Cheetal, Sambar, Nilgai, Muntjac(barking deer), Indian Bison(Gaur), Sloth Bear, Panther, Tiger and variety of birds are seen in the sanctuary.
Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary, Kinnerasani
This Wildlife Sanctuary lying on the Right Bank of the Godavari River forms a part of the Dandakaranya forests in Khammam district. It is situated 12-km from Paloncha, Khammam District. It extends over an area of 635.4-sq-kms It derives its name from the river Kinnerasani, which bisects the sanctuary and ultimately drains into the Godavari River.
Mrigavani National Park, Chilkur
The park covers an area of 700 acres and is located at a distance of 25 km. from Hyderabad. The flora of the park is of tropical dry deciduous forest of degraded nature. The park harbors over 600 plant species ranging from bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Herbs, Shrubs, Climbers and Trees. The vegetative cover presents a mosaic of woodland and grasslands. Prominent trees are Teak, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Neem, Bamboo, etc.
Manjira
Wildlife & Bird Sanctuary, Sangareddy Manjira Bird Sanctuary is located near Sangareddy in Medak district spreading over 20 sq.km.
Nestling between Manjeera and Singur barrages, the Manjira wild life sanctuary comprises of nine small islands which are home to a number of resident and migratory birds in addition to Marsh Crocodiles and Muggers.
Mahaveer Harina Vanasthali National Park, Hyderabad
The park is located at Vanasthalipuram, at a distance of 20 km from the city and originally the area was under the Nizam. The park was established in 1977. The flora is of dry scrub jungle with grass lands. Major plant species found here are Neem, Butea (Flame of the forest), Acacias, Bauhinias etc. apart from a variety of thorny scrub species.
Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad
Spanning 300 lush green acres, the Nehru Zoological Park is a must for nature lovers. The biggest Zoo in India, it has over 250 species of animals and birds, most of which are kept in conditions as close to their natural habitats as possible.
